AFFILIATE PROGRAMS - ANOTHER WAY TO MAKE MONEY ON THE INTERNET

For the past few days I have been talking about Google array of tools such as AdSense, AdWords and Webmaster tools as a legitimate way to make money on the Internet. The best part about this process is that all this information is FREE and can be access at the Google website that is fully documented. Another great way to make more Internet income is by joining an AFFILIATE program. So what are affiliate programs you may ask? Good questions and in a nutshell affiliate programs are also called associate programs, and is an arrangement between a merchant site and a personal site in which an online merchant Web site is linked up to your web site and pays your (affiliate) Web sites a commission to send them traffic and in the process purchase merchandise or services from them. My short answer is you're the MIDDLE MAN for the merchant. These affiliate Web sites post links to the merchant site and are paid according to a particular agreement after filling out an online application to become a member and then getting approved by the merchant. For the most part the application will ask for some personal information (name, address, payment method) and information on your site (URL, name, and description of content) and will have you agree to a service agreement. A good example is http://www.amazon.com/ whose program is called the “Associate Program.” If you look at the bottom of this page you will see an affiliate banner in use. In order for the affiliate program to be successful and for you to get paid the following three entities are required to carry out an affiliate program transaction:
· The customer
· The affiliate site
· The merchant site
